A frenzy of activity

I can’t believe Mom and Dad leave the day after tomorrow! This afternoon we are working the TuxBro four-mile run in Broad Ripple, The Ripple Effect. Mom and Dad are volunteering and I am timing the race. Hopefully the rain is done for the day — I will never hear the end of it if they have to sit out in the rain removing timing tags from people’s shoes.

In the meantime, we finished off most of the work today. Mom hemmed the shower curtain, and Dad and I hung the new headboard pieces. It’s 18 pieces of wood covered in foam, batting and seafoam green velvet (so soft!). Each row of six is mounted on a cleat, which hangs on a matching cleat on the wall. After evaluating it, Mom and I think that I will buy some thin strips of wood (lathing, probably) and stain it a color to match the furniture, then slide those in where the panels meet. That will ease some of the trouble spots where the panels don’t meet perfectly or the fabric is slightly bunched up.

I also hung new swing-arm lamps. No more kitties knocking lights off the nightstands! And, Mom decided I needed new ivory curtains instead of the green ones. As usual, she was right — they look much better against the green walls.
