25 Random Facts About Beth
For those of you not on Facebook, here’s the latest viral wave — 25 random things about me.
25. I am one-eighth African American.
24. I dance like no one is looking, even when they are. Perhaps especially when they are.
23. I own a table saw, reciprocating saw, circular saw and jigsaw. Oh, and a hand saw.
22. I have been a redhead longer than I have had my natural hair color (which I now no longer remember).
21. My favorite apple is a Fuji, cold and sliced into wedges, with peanut butter.
20. I’ve lost 35 pounds in the last 12 months.
19. I spent 10 days kayaking between the uninhabited islands of the Costa Rican Nicoya Peninsula.
18. I ran the Chicago Marathon in 1999 and 2000.
17. I am an advanced open water diver and have been down to 108 feet.
16. As a child, I wanted to be an orangutan.
15. I have an addiction to the satin binding on blankets. I have a hard time falling asleep if I can’t run it between my fingers or toes.
14. My favorite color is purple.
13. I was propositioned by Lenny Dystrka when the Mets were in Pittsburgh for a three-game series in 1987. I was 17. Imagine my life if I had said yes. Probably just the same, except with an STD.
12. I watch far too much television.
11. With the exception of my two most recent cats (who were gifts from friends and are named in their honor), I have named all my pets after geographic locations. (In college, I had six fish named after the then-newly formed Russian states.)
10. I almost always have sunglasses on top of my head.
9. I jack-hammered up part of my kitchen floor.
8. I have kissed the Blarney Stone. Twice.
7. I never sing in public. Seriously, I lip synch “Happy Birthday.”
6. My one goal in life yet achieved is to be a mother.
5. One of my favorite past-time is embarrassing Robyn. I have met her in the airport in a bright pink wig and a princess hat, and I love solving the movie “fun facts” by shouting the answers at the screen. Joe Pesci! She has the best laugh!
4. I have never broken a bone or been in a car accident.
3. I am a biological aunt to one child, but have many more children and animals who call me Aunt Beth.
2. In addition to my full-time job, I time and score running events like triathlons, 5Ks and other events.
1. I love Facebook, but I hate these things, and all the pokes, drinks, flying shoes, scavenger hunts and other nonsense. I ignore all invitations for that stuff.

23. Impressive. But I just took delivery of a radial arm saw. You’re falling behind, babe.
17. & 18. I think I was there for both? Oh, and #24, I’ve seen too much of that.
