I need your help!
As you may or may not know, I am a past president and board member of Storytelling Arts of Indiana, a statewide organization that promotes the art and use of storytelling in everyday life. Storytelling Arts of Indiana (www.storytellingarts.org) is a very unique organization in the national storytelling community — we are one of only two nonprofit groups that offers a full season of performances as well as community outreach. All other organizations — except the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborogh, Tennessee — only put on an annual festival.
We are an active part of the Indianapolis community by sending storytellers to Riley Children’s Hospital once a week, year-round, to tell stories at the bedside of children to distract them from their disease and discomfort, if only for half an hour. We also arrange for storytelling performances for latch-key kids in 34 Indianapolis Neighborhood Parks and have developed and support the “As I Recall” Storytelling Guild, where we encourage our elders to recall, develop and share their family stories.
I need your help in raising funds for these valuable programs and more — I have pledged to raise $750 by June 30. Will you please help, with a tax-deductible contribution, whether it’s $5 or $50? You can make a donation online at http://www.justgive.org/giving/donate.jsp?charityId=13761& (just put my name in the “as a gift in someone’s name” so the executive director knows it goes towards my goal – but you will be recognized as the donor and get the tax deduction.) If you prefer, you can send a donation by check to Storytelling Arts of Indiana, PO Box 20743, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
Thank you so much in advance for considering supporting this great organization that is so close to my heart. Without your gift, we wouldn’t be able to do so many great things!
