I vote, I count
It’s pretty weird to be to be the center of the political universe these days. The Indiana primary hasn’t mattered for Presidential elections in something like 40 years, which means that we’ve been spared political ads for my entire lifetime. I can’t say I’m loving all these “vote for me” direct mail pieces, TV advertising, etc., and thankfully it will all be over in a week.
But I am excited about the prospect of either a woman or an African American in the White House and did my civic duty by voting early yesterday afternoon. For those of you who live in Marion County, you can vote at the City County building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Aside from the fact that you have to go through their security system (and their metal detectors are hyper-sensitive — both my navel ring and my underwire bra caused beeps), it’s fabulous to get it over and done with. It took me about 15 minutes and is only about two blocks away from my office, which is so much better than having to find my polling place and wait with the crowds. Now if I can only stand the ongoing news coverage between now and next Wednesday!
